Albert was a treasurer in a King’s court. The King was very unhappy with him because Albert always made mistakes in calculations. One day, the King warned him, “Albert, you have one last chance to prove yourself. Show me that you are worthy of being a royal treasurer!” A disheartened Albert left the kingdom. He wandered in a forest. There, he saw a small bird trying to make its nest on a tree-branch. The twigs with which the bird was trying to arrange its nest kept falling on the ground again and again. But the bird did not stop making the nest. Instead, whenever a twig fell on the ground it flew down and brought the fallen twig back. Albert pondered over it, ‘If a small bird can try again and again, why not me?’ Albert returned to the palace and worked hard all night long. The next day, when the King checked the accounts, he found no mistake and was pleased with Albert’s efforts.
