Once, there was an old carpenter. He used to work for a company. One day, he decided to retire. He told his boss, “I wish to retire now and lead a quiet life with my wife.” His boss felt sad to hear this. He said, “Retire if you must, but before you go, I have a favour to ask of you. Please build one last house as a personal favour.” The carpenter agreed but his heart was not in his work. He did not do that good a job as he normally did. When the carpenter finished his work, the boss came to see the house. Then, he handed the house key to the carpenter and said, “This is your house. It is my gift to you.” The carpenter was shocked! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.
Moral: Work with all your heart.
