Once, a fox named Sanu felt very hungry, so he was wandering in search of food. Then he saw the lion roaming in the jungle. The lion roared and called Sanu loudly. The fox went to him; then the lion said, “What use is your cleverness if it cannot get me my prey easily?” Then the fox assured him to bring prey to him. After thinking a lot a plan came into his mind. Sanu went to Niku, the ass and told him that a lion had called him and he wanted to make him his assistant.
Hearing this, without thinking a moment he agreed to go with Sanu. Sanu made him to enter the lion’s den. As he entered the den, the lion pounced on Niku and killed him. The lion was about to eat the fresh flesh but clever Sanu told him that he must take a bath before eating. When the lion went to take a bath, Sanu could not wait and ate up the ass’s brains. When the lion came back and saw the brain missing, he roared, “Who ate this?” The fox very cleverly replied back, “O King! The ass never had any brains!”
