Many years ago, there lived a Partridge. She made a beautiful house for herself under a lush green tree. The tree gave shade and there grew colourful flowers. The Partridge loved her house and took care of it.
One day, as the winters dawned, the Partridge could not find any food for herself near her house. So, she decided to go to the fields to find food.
When she reached the fields, she saw plenty of food. She decided to stay at the fields for a few days. She ate to her heart’s content. The food kept her warm.
In the meanwhile, a Hare was looking for a house to save him from the harsh winters. He came across the Partridge’s house. He knocked at the house but no one answered. He thought, ‘This is a beautiful house and no one lives here. I can stay here for the winters.’
So, the Hare settled into the house.
When the Partridge returned, she was surprised to see the Hare in her house. She asked him to leave immediately. The Hare said, “The house belongs to the one who lives here.” The Hare and the Partridge got into a big argument.
A Cat was passing by the house. The Hare and the Partridge decided to ask the Cat to help them.
They went to the Cat and told him about the argument. The Cat pretended as if he could not hear anything. So, he said, “I cannot hear easily. Why don’t you come closer and speak in my ears.”
The Hare and the Partridge went closer to the Cat and in no time, the Cat caught them both and ate them.
