A hungry hyena stood under a dove’s nest and demanded, “You had better give me one of your chicks or I shall fly up and eat all of you.” The poor dove was scared! Weeping, she gave the hyena her chick. After the hyena had left, a parrot came to visit the dove. The dove cried, “The hyena has taken my chick. He said that he would fly up and eat us all. So, I had to give him one of my chicks.” The parrot said, “You are such a fool! Don’t you know that hyenas cannot fly? Don’t let him trick you anymore.” The next day, when the hyena came back, the dove said, “You cannot fool me anymore. I was told that hyenas don’t fly.” The surprised hyena asked, “Who said that to you?” The dove said, “My wise friend, the parrot, did.” The hyena walked away very disappointed as he could not trick the dove again.
