Once there was a farmer who had a dog and a rabbit. He wanted to test the skill of his pets. So, he hid a carrot and a bone in a hole in his field. He then held a competition between his dog and the rabbit to see which animal would find them first. The rabbit always thought he could do any job. The optimistic rabbit dug here and there, convinced that he would find the carrot. But the dog did not have self‑confidence. He thought he could not do any job well. After sniffing around for a while, the pessimistic dog sat on the ground and complained, “It’s too difficult to find a bone in such a big field!” The rabbit finally dug a tunnel right under the dog. There, he found the carrot and the bone. The dog lost because of his pessimism although the bone was right there.
