Once, a donkey was moving about in the forest. Suddenly, a lion appeared before him. The lion’s mouth started watering at the sight of the donkey. He wanted to eat the donkey. The donkey understood the lion’s desire. He decided to fool the lion. He quickly said to the lion, “Oh Lion! A thorn has got stuck in my feet. If you eat me, it will cause a wound in your throat. So, you cannot eat me.” The lion quickly answered, “Do not worry; I will take the thorn out.” So, the lion bent down to take the thorn out of the donkey’s foot. But as soon as he did so, the clever donkey raised his leg and struck a terrible blow on the lion’s face and ran away. The poor lion could only mourn for his loss.
