An earthworm lived in a forest. He always wanted to be the longest animal in the forest. One day, while he was playing with his friends, he saw a snake. It was very long. “What a long snake!” he exclaimed jealously. I wish I were as long as he. If I stretch myself, I am sure I can be as long as he.” So he lay down next to the snake and said to his friends, “Please pull me from both the ends. Don’t stop till I am as long as the snake.” His friends pulled hard from both the sides. The earthworm thought, ‘Soon, I will be as long as this snake.’ But, he was stretched so much that he split into pieces. His friends shook their heads sadly and felt sorry for their foolish friend.
