The farm truck was quite old. It creaked and clattered as Farmer Biggles drove it to the market. Often he had to stop because the engine smoked! One day, a tramp stopped at the farm. He wore tattered clothes and was hungry. Farmer Biggles and his wife gave him food and he had a bath at the river. Some of Farmer Biggles’ clothes were given to him, including a tweed coat. The tramp was very grateful. His name was Goldie. He hung around the farm and the Biggles wondered how long he would stay. But gradually, they found that he was doing things at the farm. He cleaned out the chicken-coop, the pens, the stables and the barn. But the wonder came when Farmer Biggles drove the truck without a single stop to the market! Goldie had repaired it! Now, Goldie lived and worked on the farm and even drove the truck!
