Once, there was a farmer. He was fed up of birds eating his seeds. One day, he placed nets on his newly-sown lands. Many birds got caught in the net. One day, a stork got caught in the net. He begged the farmer to spare his life. He pleaded to the farmer, “Please let me go. I have a broken leg. Have pity on me. Besides, I am no ordinary bird. I am a stork, a bird of excellent character; and see how I love and work for my father and mother.” The farmer only laughed at hearing the stork’s words. He said to the stork, “Whatever you are saying may be true but you were caught in the net. You are no different than the other birds and deserve the same fate.”
