Once upon a time, the Chief wanted to give a feast. So, he sent the messengers all around to announce that each guest would bring a jug of palm wine. One man wanted to attend the feast but had no wine at home. He did not want to spend money on buying the wine. He thought, ‘I’ll just take a jug of water instead of wine. After all, one jug of water won’t make that much of a difference in a big tub of wine.’ On the day of the feast, everyone gathered at the Chief’s house. Everyone poured his jug into the large pot where wine was collected. The man poured his jug of water as well. Thereafter, everyone sat down to eat. The Chief ordered his servants to serve the wine. When the guests began drinking, they were surprised to taste nothing but water. Each guest had thought that one jug of water would not make a difference!
