Once, a man lived in the village. He had two cocks. One day, the man was returning from the market when he saw a man selling a partridge. He thought, “Ah! My children would like this bird.” So, he bought the partridge and took her home. He placed her along with his cocks. But the cocks pecked the partridge and troubled her. They followed her wherever she went. The partridge was very upset. She thought to herself, ‘Why are these cocks pecking me? I think it is because I am a stranger to them.’ However, one day, the partridge found the cocks fighting and pecking each other. Now she said, “Ah! I shall not be sad anymore. I shall not complain if the cocks peck me. I can see that the cocks quarrel even among themselves. It is in their nature after all!”
