Once upon a time, there was a small pond where a number of fishes lived. They lived happily in water. Drought was setting in at that time. The water level was receding and it became a cause for their concern that in a few days’ time the remaining water would also dry up and they all would die. All the fishes then decided that they would take the advice of the crab. They approached him with salutations and put forth their concerns. The crab was a very wise creature and gave them a good piece of sermon. He said that since they were all creatures of the Allah, it was for the Allah to provide them with whatever was required to live. Everything is preordained and pre-decided, how much one should get and how much one should not get. He said that it was not for the fishes to think about their sustenance. After the sermon by the crab, all the fishes went to their pond fully convinced that the crab was very wise. Rightly so, there was heavy rain after sometime and the pond was filled with water to the delight of the fishes.
