Once, a fox named Sibu was taking rest under a tree and was thinking how he could get food for himself because he had been hungry for two days. Just then a crow named Kali came flying and sat on the same tree. Kali had a juicy piece of cheese in his mouth. The fox’s mouth watered. His stomach growled in hunger and he desperately wanted to eat the cheese. He quickly thought of a way in which he could trick the crow.
He went up to the crow and said, “You are such a handsome and clever bird! If only you could sing just as beautifully!” The foolish crow puffed up his feathers at the praise. He wanted to prove to the fox that he could sing very well too. “Caw, caw!” he opened his mouth to sing. Plop! the juicy piece of cheese fell to the ground. The wily fox was waiting for this opportunity. He gobbled the cheese and went his way.
