Once, a sparrow and a rabbit were neighbours yet they always quarrelled. One day, the rabbit was seized by an eagle. The eagle started pecking the rabbit, who cried out in pain. While he was crying, the sparrow came there and started making fun of him. She said, “Oh! What happened to your swiftness that you are so famous for? Did your feet fail you? Why did you not run? You should have at least been careful!” The rabbit cried louder and said, “I am in great pain. How can you make fun of me?” The sparrow laughed louder. But suddenly, a hawk came there. She caught hold of the sparrow. The sparrow was shocked and shrieked with pain. The rabbit said, “Ah, this makes my dying easier. A moment ago you were making fun of me. You told me I was not careful and now look at you.”
Moral: It is foolish to give advice to others while not looking out for oneself.
