Hatim was smitten by the head of Sam Ahmar’s daughter. Khwaja Khizr, the old man in green robes, who had saved Hatim from the lake, told him the true story of Sam Ahamar. Hatim did not care for his own well being and was determined to destroy the evil magician. Hatim walked into the forbidden land; it was beautiful beyond imagination. Ahmar, the magician, sent his army of wild animals to destroy Hatim. He created magic so that each step Hatim took might make him sink deeper into the earth. But Khwaja Khizr had given Hatim a protective chant that saved him each time. Then Ahmar sent an evil spirit, a look-alike of Zarinpash, who forced Hatim to take an evil drink in order to forget the protective chant. And with that, Hatim was captured and thrown into a burning mine that blazed night and day on the top of the mountain.
