Once, a young pig was drinking water from a lake. Suddenly, a lion also came there to drink water. The young pig saw the lion and grunted. The lion growled and stepped back. Thinking that the lion was afraid of him, the pig challenged the lion to a fight. The lion went away saying he would fight against him the next day. The pig became proud. He went home and boasted to his grandfather, “You know the lion is afraid of me. I will defeat him tomorrow.” His grandfather replied, “The lion is not afraid of you. Your foul smell put him off. If you want to save yourself tomorrow, roll yourself in mud and an elephant’s dung.” The young pig did as he was told. When the lion came to fight against him, he was so disgusted with the foul smell that he went away without fighting.
