The Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Days’ Battle

On the fourth day, both the sides came to battle. Duryodhana tried to surround Abhimanyu unethically but Dhrishtdyumna dashed his plan to the ground. Thereafter, Duryodhana let loose a herd of intoxicated elephants on the Pandava army. But Bhima drove them back to the Kauravas. The elephants crushed seven of Kaurava brothers and injured Duryodhana seriously. Thus the battle ended on the fourth day.
A fierce battle took place on the fifth day. Bhishma showered a volley of arrows but Arjuna nullified all his arrows. Even preceptor Drona’s arrows proved to be ineffective. The Kaurava soldiers were sent to the abode of Death. Then Bhurishrava, a warrior skilled in sword duel, appeared to give battle to the Pandavas. He did away with the ten sons of Satyaki. Arjuna sent several Kaurava warriors to the abode of the Death-god. Thus ended the fifth day’s battle.
With the start of the sixth day’s battle Drona’s charioteer was killed. In fury he intensified his attack. But he was dealt with smartly by the Pandavas. Bhima wounded Duryodhana again. Duryodhana went over to Bhishma and questioned him regarding the role of the Kaurava soldiers
Bhishma advised him not to doubt them.
