A long time ago, there was a rabbit who had many friends and was very popular. He always boasted of the number of friends he had. One day, he heard that some hounds were coming his way. He thought, ‘No problem. My friends will help me to escape.’ So, he approached his friend, the bull, and asked, “Friend, please carry me on your back for the hounds are coming.” But the bull replied, “I cannot as I have some important work to do.” The rabbit then went to the horse and asked for help. But the horse too refused saying he was busy. So, off went the rabbit to his friend goat. She cried, “Oh, I cannot! You might hurt my back!” Thus, the rabbit was refused help by all his friends. The rabbit, hearing the hounds approaching, took to his heels and escaped on his own. Later he sighed, ‘He who has many friends has no friends.’
Moral: He who has many friends has no friends.
