Once, in a green pasture, some geese were playing with their mother goose. Then a fox passed from there; the geese were so busy that they didn’t notice the fox coming towards them. Suddenly the fox pounced on one of the geese. Mother goose and other geese got frightened. The fox was about to eat the goose. Then an idea came in mother’s mind. She begged for mercy and cried in fear. But the fox had no pity for them. Finally, one goose courageously said, “Before we die, please allow us to say our prayers so that God forgives our sins. Then you can choose the fattest goose amongst us.” The fox thought it was a reasonable request and agreed to it.
Then mother goose began her prayer. She kept repeating “Ga! Ga!” continuously. Soon the other geese followed her one by one. Finally, the fox grew tired of waiting and walked away shaking in anger. The moment the fox was out of sight, the clever mother goose stopped her prayers and hastily left the place.
