A boy called Charlie played outside the village, next to the big banyan tree, every day. One day, his younger brother Billy came to play with him. Charlie did not want to play with Billy. So, he decided to scare him and told Billy that a fearful spirit lived on the big banyan tree. When the sun went down, Charlie covered himself in a white sheet and walked towards Billy making a fearful sound, “Boo-Hoo-Hoo.” The poor Billy got scared and ran home crying. As Charlie stood laughing a branch from the big banyan tree clutched at his arm and pulled him up in the air. Charlie screamed in horror. The tree said, “I am the spirit of the big banyan tree. You scared Billy with my name today. This time I forgive you. But, the next time I will turn you into a stone.” Charlie returned home and apologised to Billy and promised never to be rude to anyone.
