Long ago, there lived a poor potter who made beautiful pots. He worked very hard but he did not earn much. One day, the potter saved the life of an old woman. The grateful old woman gave the potter a goldfish in return. The potter kept the goldfish near his bed and fed it even if he didn’t have anything to eat. One night, the potter sat crying before the goldfish, “I don’t even have money to eat.” “Take your pots to the marketplace tomorrow. You will surely sell them and earn money,” advised his goldfish. The potter was shocked to hear his goldfish talk. “I have the gift of speech. But I can use it only when someone is in trouble,” said the goldfish. The potter took the pots to the marketplace the next day. To his delight, many people bought his pots and he made a huge profit. The goldfish had made the potter a rich man.
