Once, all the Goods and the Ills stayed together. But slowly, the number of Ills increased. They drove the Goods away from the earth. The Goods went to heaven and asked for justice. They told Jupiter that they no longer wanted to be associated with the Ills. They wanted that a law be laid down for their protection in future. Jupiter granted their request. He ordered that henceforth the Ills should visit the earth in groups, but that the Goods should one by one enter the world of men. Thus, from then, the Ills abound, for they come not one by one, but in troops, and by no means singly, while the Goods proceed from Jupiter, and are given, not alike to all, but singly, and separately; and one by one to those who are able to recognize them.
