Tom was turning six and he was very excited. But he wished his grandfather was there with him to celebrate his birthday party, that evening. Tom’s grandfather had gone on a business trip. Before leaving he promised, “Tommy, I will be there for your birthday!” But Tom’s grandfather was caught in a busy business schedule and could not make it before his birthday. As Tom ate breakfast, he thought of his birthday party. He also thought how much fun it would be to open his birthday presents. When the birthday party began, Tom waited eagerly for the cake to be cut so that he might open his gifts. Just as he was about to blow out the candles, Tom received a wonderful surprise. His grandfather arrived unexpectedly. Tom was overjoyed! His grandfather had cancelled his meeting for Tom’s birthday and had come to see him. Tom felt that the best gift was his grandfather’s visit!
