The Greedy Traveller

“So what are you here for?” asked the traveller again. “A wise and holy person asked me to do good deeds to repent for my sins. So here I am, old, toothless and weak. I am waiting to give this bangle to someone as a gift, but no one believes that I am harmless now, with no teeth or claws. Here is the bangle,” said the tiger, holding out his paw, “But you’ll have to wade across the pool to get it. I am too old and feeble now to come there.” The man thought that the tiger was too old to harm him. So, his greed overcame him and he waded across. Halfway he was stuck in the muddy water! The tiger immediately seized him. ‘I should never have believed his sweet talk!’ thought the greedy traveller as he died.
