Long, long ago, there were many tall and beautiful trees in the forest. Among all the tall and beautiful trees, there was a grumpy tree. It was the biggest tree. The grumpy tree neither provided shade to any of the animals nor allowed the birds to make their nests on it. Nobody liked the tree because of its rude behaviour. One year, the autumn and the winter were awful. The grumpy tree lost all its leaves. It became weak and was going to die of cold. A little girl went to spend her vacation at her grandma’s house. One day, while she was walking with her grandma, she saw the same grumpy tree. The tree was shivering with cold. She went near to the tree and felt very sad for it. Next day, she came back alone and put her scarf to cover the tree.

The Spirit of the Forest appeared and told the little girl not to help the grumpy tree as it was haughty. But the girl decided to put the scarf on the tree. The tree had learnt from the girl’s kindness and was very guilty. From that day, the grumpy tree changed. It was no more grumpy.
The very next spring, the girl came again and sat down next to the trunk of that tree. She was surprised to see that the tree bent down one of its branches to shade her from the sun. Then, the girl saw her scarf hanging on the tree. She remembered the tree and became so happy. The Spirit of the Forest saw this and told all the animals that they could sit in the shade of the tree. The tree had learnt that having kind and generous beings around makes the world a much better place to live in.
