A man possessed a bull and an ox. While the bull walked around free, the ox worked hard. One day, the bull saw the ox harnessed to a plough. He wanted to rub salt on his wounds, so he said to the ox, “You are working so hard while I am free to move about.” The ox did not say anything and kept working quietly. Shortly afterwards, there was a harvest festival. The man set the ox free to roam about. The ox was very happy. The man then walked away to find the bull. On finding him, the man bound the bull with ropes and led him to the altar to be sacrificed in honour of the occasion. The ox saw this quietly. He smiled and said to the bull, “You were allowed to live in idleness, because you were to be sacrificed.”
