Thomas lived in a fishermen’s village near the ocean. Every night, he would see a bright light coming from a tall tower in the middle of the ocean. “This is a haunted lighthouse. It has taken lives of so many sailors,” said his father. One night, Thomas saw a woman standing in the window of the lighthouse. Her long black hair swayed in the air and she looked very sad, as if she was waiting for someone. Her eyes gleamed when she noticed Thomas. To his sheer horror, the woman transformed into a fire-breathing bird with an elongated neck, sword-like nose and a monster’s eyes popping out of her head. The bird flew swiftly towards Thomas, making a deafening whirring sound and wolfing down all little birds that came her way. Thomas had a lump in his throat. Just then, the sun had started shining brightly from the horizon, blinding the bird. Suddenly, the bird flew back to the lighthouse.
