“I’m allergic to hay!” announced Jasper, the horse. “Rubbish!” said his mate, Lily. “What will you eat if not hay?” “I’m itching all over,” he said, “It’s all because of that haystack!” Jasper flicked his tail and twitched because he was feeling so itchy. But he refused to eat the hay. Farmer Dwight was puzzled and called the vet. Jasper simply turned his head away when they gave him hay, but he ate oats. When they took him near the haystack, he reared up and bolted! “He’s upset with the haystack!” said the vet, “Let’s have a look at it.” Farmer Dwight and his men moved out of the hay and inside it was a nest of black ants! They had been biting poor Jasper whose stall was near the haystack! “That’s your allergy, Jasper!” exclaimed Lily. The vet gave Jasper some medicine and Farmer Dwight applied lotion on the bites. Now, Jasper happily chomped hay!
