The Helpful Ant and the Little Girl

The Helpful Ant and the Little Girl

Once, there was famine all over the city. Nothing was there to eat. Fancy, the ant was very hungry, so she went hither and thither in search of food. While roaming Fancy reached a room and saw the room full of grains. Fancy ate till her tummy was full. Then Fancy felt thirsty. She looked around for water but could find none. Suddenly a drop of water fell near the ant. She drank it and looked up to see where the drop had come from. She found a little girl crying.

She asked the girl, “Why are you weeping, little girl?” The girl explained that a giant had locked her in the room. “He will only let me go if I separate the wheat, barley and rye from this huge heap of grains! If I cannot finish this task in a day, he will eat me up!” the girl further added. The ant called all her friends. Thousands of ants worked all night and made three different heaps of wheat, barley and rye. Next day, when the giant came into the room and found his work done, he set the girl free. Fancy and the little girl remained friends forever.
