Once, a man from a village heard that a Bodhisattva lived in a small house atop the mountain. The man decided to make the long and difficult journey to visit him. At the house, a servant greeted him at the door. The man told the servant, “I have heard a Bodhisattva lives here. I want to meet him.” The servant smiled and led him inside. They walked through the house, but the man did not meet the Bodhisattva. He was then escorted outside. He stopped and turned to the servant, “But I want to see the Bodhisattva!” “You have met him,” said the servant, “Some people may appear plain and insignificant, but see each of them as a Bodhisattva.”
