Once, there lived a kangaroo who was a champion athlete. He was very haughty and mean, and ridiculed others all the time. A little penguin, who walked slowly and ungainly, bore the brunt of his barbs. One day, the fox, who organised the races, announced an unusual race. He asked all the animals to assemble on top of the mountain. On the way, everyone poked fun at the penguin. They said he would just roll all the way down or slide down on his fat stomach. As soon as they reached the top, there was silence. The top of the mountain turned out to be a crater that was filled with water! The fox gave the signal to start the race and said, “The one who reaches the other side first will win.” Just as the penguin hit the water, he zoomed past everyone and won the race. In the meantime, the embarrassed and almost drowned kangaroo was struggling to reach the other side. The kind-hearted penguin promised the kangaroo to teach him how to swim.
