The Hunter Rabbit

The Hunter Rabbit

Once, a rabbit named Sijuka lived in his burrow in a dense jungle. He ate only berries, and also made his family members to eat berries. One day Jabo, the son desired to have something to eat except the berries. So Sijuka went hunting in the jungle. Suddenly, he saw a track of big footprints and thought they belonged to a giant. Sijuka didn’t find anything to hunt in the jungle and thought that the giant must have hunted everything. Next day, Sijuka again went to hunt in the early morning but found nothing. Then he decided to lay a net, but next day he found a hole in it.

This made him disappointed, and he went to his magician grandmother who gave him a magic net that couldn’t be cut. Next morning Sijuka became astonished to see a blinding light coming from it and it was the sun he had captured. The sun said Sijuka to free him soon; otherwise, it would be dark all over. The rabbit freed him quickly. Thereafter the sun kicked Sijuka on his shoulders and the heat turned them brown. That’s why rabbits have brown shoulders and still eat berries.
