The Hunter, the Parrot and Her Young Ones

Once a hunter caught a family of parrots in his net. The parrot had just taught her little fledglings to start flying and was worried about them. Then an idea occurred to her.
“Pretend to be dead when the hunter comes to the net. When he lifts the net, fly away quickly,” she told the little ones.
“What about you?” asked the fledglings.
“Don’t worry; I’ll allow him to hold me till I find a way to return to you,” said the parrot.
The little parrots obeyed her and as soon as the hunter lifted the net, they flew away. The parrot spoke to the hunter who held her, “You are not aware, sir, that I’m a very skilled physician. If you sell me, you’ll have enough to live comfortably for the rest of your days.”
The hunter thought he would take the parrot to the King. “The King has suffered for long from an illness for which no one can find a cure. Do you think you will be able to cure him?” he asked the parrot.

“Can you doubt it?” replied the parrot, “I can cure any number of people of any disease. Just take me to the King and tell him about my skill.”
So, the hunter took the parrot to the palace and told the King all about his skill as a physician. The King was impressed and asked him the price of the parrot.
“Ten thousand dinars, Your Majesty,” said the hunter. The King bought the parrot and the hunter went away, thrilled at the money he had earned!
The next day, the parrot began the treatment of the King, prescribing the medicines he should be given. The health of the King began to improve gradually. He was very happy with his Parrot Physician.

One day, as the King began to recover, the parrot told him that he needed to go out to get a certain medicine to complete the cure. “Since my medicine has helped you, Sir, would you be so kind as to let me go and fetch the medicine?” asked the parrot.
The King was so grateful to the parrot that he set him free. Thanking the King, the parrot flew away. She went back to her children and never returned to the palace.
