Once, the Bodhisattva was born as a baby quail. His parents would bring him food, feed him and look after him. One day, a fire broke out in the forest. All the birds flew away, but the baby quail’s parents stayed with the baby, as he could not walk or fly yet. Finally, the fire came so close that they had to fly away to save themselves. The helpless baby quail thought of his parents and their kindness. He thought, ‘I thank them wherever they are. But I have done nothing wrong to anyone and am innocent!’ Suddenly, a miracle occurred! The knowledge of truth spread and he remembered his previous birth as the Buddha. ‘May all birds trapped by the fire be saved!’ thought the Bodhisattva within the baby quail. And so did it happen. The fire stopped.
Moral: Truth, honesty and kindness can save the world.
