The Jackals and the Fox

Once there was a pack of jackals that happened to see a dead camel and were very happy that their food problem for many days was solved. Then they also thought that they needed a judge so that they might not fight amongst themselves for food. They wanted to see that even the weak jackal got his share of meat for the day. So, they went about looking for a judge. Finally, they made a fox agree to be their judge. The fox, being cunning as he was, planned he would keep the dead camel all for himself and chase those jackals away. When other foxes came for their ration of the camel meat, the jackal said that there was no meat left, so they drove them all away. Even the next day, they made a request but the fox replied that the opportune time had not come. The jackals were dejected and took their complaint to the lion, the king of the forest. The lion after hearing the plight of the jackals felt pity for them and went up to the fox, tore him to pieces and restored the camel meat to the jackals.
