Jake always wanted to have a pet cat. Every day, he pestered his dad to buy him one. So his dad said, “If you secure good marks in your assessment tests, I’ll think about bringing home a pet for you.” So, Jake worked very hard and got good marks in his tests. One evening, the doorbell rang and Jake rushed to open the door for his father. “Look, Jake. Here is your new kitten,” his father said and placed a little kitten on the floor. Excitedly, Jake moved towards her but she mewed and backed away from him. Surprised at this, Jake asked, “Dad, why is she running away from me?” His dad said, “When you met my new friend, Victor, you were scared because he was new to you. But now you are familiar with him. Well, the little kitten is just like you.” Jake understood and waited till the kitten accepted him as her friend.
