Once, a lark built its nest on a farmer’s land. The farmer’s son saw the nest and went near it. He saw a lark in the nest and asked her, “Hey Lark, do you have any children?” “Yes, I have three young ones–Tiny Bill, Fair Wing and Bright Eyes,” the mother lark said. The boy told her that he too had two younger sisters. “My mother loves us and thinks we are all very beautiful.” The little larks spoke up, “Our mother dotes on us, too.” The boy then asked the mother lark if she would send Tiny Bill home with him. Bright Eyes replied, “Of course, if you send your little sister to our nest to play with us, too.” “But she is not old enough to leave home yet,” said the boy. “Tiny Bill is too small to leave his nest yet,” said Bright Eyes. The little boy realised that the young ones of animals also need the love and care of their mothers and should not be separated from them.
