The Lark and the Farmer

The Lark and the Farmer

Once, a mother lark lived on a tree with her young baby. They lived happily. Unfortunately, one day a woodcutter visited the forest and cut the tree on which the mother lark and her baby lived. Now they had become homeless. Then the mother lark and the baby lark started wandering in search of their new home. Then they reached a field of wheat and decided to build her nest on a wheat plant. One day, the farmer came to see the crops. He said, “I think it’s time to harvest the crop now. I’ll ask my neighbours to help me.” One young lark who overheard this told his mother about the farmer’s words. “Mamma, let’s move to a safer place.” The mother said, “Don’t worry, Son. I don’t think it is necessary to move out right now.

When a person calls his friends for help, it means that the situation is not urgent.” A few days later, the farmer once again visited the field and saw that the wheat was fully ripe. He said to himself, ‘Tomorrow I will come to harvest the wheat myself.’ When the lark heard these words, she knew the time had come when she must move immediately.
