Winifred had gone to visit her aunt and uncle in the countryside. Her aunt was a cook at a rich man’s house. Sometimes, Winifred would accompany her. One day, the rich man had invited a family to dinner. Winifred’s aunt was cooking. There were many dishes she had to cook. Among them was roast chicken. Since the guests were late, Winifred’s aunt decided to let the chicken stay in the oven to keep it warm until it was served. Then she went to lay the table and look after the floral arrangements. While her aunt was away, Winifred noticed that her aunt had forgotten to switch off the oven. Winifred switched it off and told her aunt about it. Her aunt rushed in to check whether the chicken had burnt. Fortunately, the chicken was fine. She thanked Winifred for her timely help due to which she was able to serve everyone a delicious dinner.
