Once, a sparrow and an ant lived on a mango tree. Every morning, the wise ant went out in search of food and filled its food store a little. One day, the sparrow asked, “Why do you store food, dear ant?” “It’s spring time and the food is in abundance. When winter comes, there will be only snow and no food,” replied the ant. The lazy sparrow did not bother and continued wasting time singing and flying. Soon winter arrived and the land was covered in snow. The ant, who had stored food, ate merrily. The sparrow was cold and hungry. She could not even find a twig. The forest fairy took pity on the sparrow. She made her a nest and gave her enough food to last the winter. The sparrow thanked the fairy. Next spring onwards, she went out to gather food with the ant.
