Princess Maria had a cat named Becky. She loved it more than all her toys. Becky had beautiful white fur and the princess was very proud of it. But one day, Becky went missing. Everyone hunted for Becky all over, but it was not to be found anywhere in the palace or gardens or even in the woods. That night, Princess Maria cried herself to sleep. In the morning, a dirty cat arrived at the palace doors. Its fur was all muddy and with it was a large brown cat. The guards informed the princess. She ran to hug Becky but was horrified to see it so dirty! A farmer stood there too and said, “It came to my farm, and has made friends with my cat Tom! It would only come back with Tom.” Maria was so happy that she took both the cats. Both Becky and Tom lived happily in the palace!
