Once, there was a mermaid called Pearl. She was very pretty and the other mermaids were jealous of her. But she was too proud of herself. Now, Terry Turtle liked Pearl but she did not notice him. One day, Pearl came to know about a treasure chest filled with precious jewels. It was inside a sunken ship. Pearl decided to get the chest. She swam to the ship and found the chest. She opened the chest and found many precious jewels. Pearl lifted out a necklace and put it around her neck. Pearl tried to swim but the necklace was so heavy that she could not move. Pearl cried out for help. Terry came to her rescue at once. He said, “You do not need any jewels, Pearl. You are pretty without them.” Pearl said, “I have learnt my lesson and will never be greedy again.”
