Kevin walked on the seashore collecting shells. He was the son of a fisherman and lived in a little hamlet near the sea. He found an attractive aqua blue conch shell. Kevin tried to blow into the conch. Sweet music floated in the air. Suddenly, the sea waves rolled and rumbled violently. From among the waves leapt out hundreds of mermaids. Kevin had never seen anything like that. Scared and shy, Kevin leapt behind a nearby rock and hid there. Kevin had stopped blowing the conch but the sweet music from the shell still lingered in the air. The mermaids formed circles on the waves and started dancing. What joy it was to watch the mermaids leap into the air and flap their tails! When the music stopped, the mermaids went back into the sea. A couple of days later, Kevin blew the conch again and the same scene was repeated. His summers were never boring again.
