There was a small house in a faraway town. The house was full of Mice. The Mice walked and ran around the house freely. They ate all the cheese kept in the kitchen.
The owner of the house was tired. Finally, he came up with an idea. The owner went to the closeby market and bought a Cat. This particular Cat was known for killing Mice. They even called him the ‘Mouse Catcher’.
As the Cat came into the house, he inspected all the areas in the house and found out where all the Mice stayed. Every day, he would chase one Mouse and kill him. The dead Mouse was the Cat’s meal.
After a few days, all the Mice got together. One Mouse said, “Dear All, how can we get rid of this Cat? He is fast and he has eaten many of our friends.” After some time, another Mouse replied, “The Cat cannot climb the top of the shelves. From now on, let us stay on the top shelves and inside the cupboards. We must be clever and save our life.”
Since that day, the Cat would not see a single Mouse to chase in the house. He started growing weak. The owner did not give him food but asked him to kill the Mice. The Cat had grown thin and frail.
One afternoon, the Cat decided to let himself hang down by her hind legs from a peg and pretend to be dead. All the Mice saw him from the top of the cupboards. One small Mouse yelled at him, “You’re very clever, Cat, no doubt. But even if you turn yourself into a bag of meal hanging there, you won’t catch us coming anywhere near you.”
