The Name of the Horse

Once, a fox and wolf were very hungry. They saw a horse and wanted to eat him. They made a plan to befriend the horse. The fox asked the horse, “May I know your name?” The horse replied, “My name is written on my hoof. You can read it.” The clever fox suspected foul play. He replied, “I cannot read or write. The wolf can read and write. He is a very intelligent animal.” The wolf was flattered by the praise. He at once went to look at the horse’s hoof, which the horse had raised. When he came closer to the hoof, the horse kicked the wolf. The wolf was badly hurt. The horse laughed, “Wolf! Now you will never ask me my name as you have it written just below your eyes.”
