Daisy was a naughty nymph. She was always troubling others. ‘I will put a pinecone on Miss Eldred’s chair today. It will be fun to see my teacher try and sit on that,’ thought Daisy, mischievously. She did just that before the class started. “Come here, Daisy,” called out Miss Eldred from inside the classroom. “Please draw the mermaid’s picture on the board. You draw so well!” she exclaimed, “Today we will talk about mermaids.” Daisy went to the board and drew a mermaid. “Beautiful!” said her teacher. Daisy came back beaming with pride. “OUCH!” she screamed as soon as she tried to sit. “Who put the pinecone here?” she cried. “I put it on Miss Eldred’s chair!” She clapped a hand on her mouth in horror as soon as the words came out! “I know!” said Miss Eldred simply, and she continued teaching. Daisy was very sorry. “I promise I will never be naughty again!” she promised Miss Eldred.
