Monica had new neighbours next door. They had shifted only a few days ago. But their house caught fire all of a sudden. It took four fire engines and twenty fire fighters to stop the fire, but there was nothing left of the house. It was reduced to a heap of rubble. Back in Monica’s house, her parents were lost in discussion as to how they could help their new neighbours. Monica asked them, “We don’t even know who they are. Why should we help them?” Her mother said, “Monica, they have gone through a great crisis. They have lost all their possessions. It’s not important whether we know them or not. The need of the hour is to offer them comfort to lessen their suffering.” Monica understood this. She went along with her parents to meet the neighbours. They took tea and cookies along, and offered them shelter.
