Oliver left the village to seek his fortune in the world. He came to a forest at night. The trees seemed to bend and sway and were talking! “He is the Night Prince!” they whispered. Puzzled, Oliver stopped and drew out his sword. “He carries the sword!” said the voices, “He will set us free!” “Is anybody there?” said Oliver loudly. “We are the forest nymphs,” said the voices, “There is an enchanted fountain from which we drank water and were turned into trees. Take water from there and sprinkle it tonight before dawn on all of us! That will break the spell!” Oliver carried out their orders but didn’t drink at the fountain. Immediately, all the trees turned into beautiful forest nymphs. They rewarded Oliver richly. He built a palace and a city there and came to be known always as the Night Prince!
