Kathleen was cleaning her garage one day, when she saw an old raincoat lying in a corner. She wanted to throw it away at first. But when she looked at it carefully, she saw that the raincoat was not torn. Just old. “It might be of use some day. I shall keep it.” Many days passed and Kathleen forgot all about the raincoat. One morning, Kathleen was sitting on the veranda when she saw an old sweeper walking through her neighbourhood, pushing a wheelbarrow. Then it started to rain and Kathleen felt sad for the old sweeper. ‘Poor dear! His clothes are not enough to protect him from the rain,’ she thought. Just then, she remembered the old raincoat lying in the garage. She rushed to the garage to get the raincoat. Then she ran outside and gave it to him. The old sweeper thanked her. Kathleen thought, ‘Nothing is ever useless.’
